Overview
General Dynamics-OTS San Diego manufactures and sells a broad range of high performance electro-mechanical and electro-optical components and sub-assemblies to the aerospace, defense, intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance markets. We presently have a need for a Sr Manager, Engineering at our San Diego (Otay Mesa) location with mechanical engineering focus preferred.
In coordination and alignment with Engineering Director and site objectives, plans and directs engineering activities within GD-OTS San Diego and oversees the design of products such as motors, resolvers, and systems. The Sr Manager, Engineering manages through a team of Engineering professionals and as a working manager. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of the Engineering group. This position reports to the Engineering Director.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes, develops, and evaluates systems as well as improving and maintaining current systems or creating brand new projects.
- Applies engineering techniques and analyses within the scope of the assignment.
- Recommends operational plans with direct impact on results.
Requires communication with senior leadership on matters of strategic importance, i.e., Constructing and presenting status briefings on technical challenges. - Works with third party resources, site leadership and other necessary departments to bring comprehensive solutions for operations, production, or maintenance issues related to local production or test failures.
Qualifications
- Required Education: Associate's Degree Equivalent Combination of Relevent Education &/ or Experience
- Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree
- Discipline/Major: Manufacturing, Business or Engineering preferred
- Years and Area of Experience (required for the role): 5-7 years experience in a relevant function
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Leadership skills. Ability to foster teamwork. Oral and written communication skills. Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills. Technical expertise.
- Critical Professional Related Technical Skills; Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
