Overview
The Shipyard Test Organization (STO) Sea Trials Group is responsible for planning and executing all Electric Boat sea trials including New Construction (Builders) Trials, Post-Shakedown Availability (PSA) Trials, and Overhaul and Repair (OH&R) Trials. The candidate will be responsible for:
- Planning for sea trials by developing sea trials agendas and sailing lists
- Formally corresponding with Navy customers including SSGR, NAVSEA 08, NAVSEA 05, PMS450, PMS397, COMSUBLANT, CSS-4 to communicate sea trial requirements
- Working closely with Executive Staff and Navy Commands while at-sea to complete sea trials
- Scheduling and training with Ships Force for sea trials events in the classroom and onboard the ship
- Standing Control Room Watch to coordinate sea trial testing with the Ships Force Officer of the Deck
- Directly supervising test technicians during sea trial testing
- Managing the kit-up and stowage of sea trials test equipment and spare parts
- Coordinating with Ships Management and Trade Departments to prepare for sea trials (e.g., attend PODs, support boat walkthroughs, submit move requests for sea trials equipment)
- Maintaining, completing, and reviewing sea trial test procedures
- Supporting off-site sea trials
- Supporting Manager and Eng. Supervisor by developing manpower plans for upcoming projects
- Supporting other STO functions as directed
The candidate should possess excellent leadership, communication (written and verbal), multi-tasking skills in order to successfully perform the responsibilities listed above. The candidate should expect and be willing to work in several environments including office, shop/production, pier side, and onboard submarines at-sea.

Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or GED
- SECRET clearance or higher
- 5+ years of previous experience in a Test Department or equivalent experience in Operations
- Ability to pass a physical examination in accordance with OPNAVINST 6420.1B
PREFERRED:
- Sea Trial experience
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent
- Broad ship system knowledge spanning NPES, HM&E, S&EP, and NUC
- 5+ years of experience in the United States Navy working in submarines
- Lockout/Tagout experience
