Job Description

We are currently looking for a Systems Engineer to play a key role in the architectural and design decisions impacting the Land Command Support System (LCSS) network, which enables command, control, and communication capabilities for Canadas Army. You will work closely with DND, the Army, and industry partner stakeholders to identify gaps and areas of potential improvement within existing LCSS capabilities to support the end user. Using these insights, you will provide support and guidance on both development and testing to engineering teams.

Your Day to Day will include:

  • Provide system and product level design and support for the Mobile Domain within LCSS.
  • Document system and subsystem requirements specifications, interface control documents, design documents and use cases.
  • Manage System Problem Reports (SPRs) and Observations by providing proper upfront analysis and input to support bug fixes as well as seeing the proper close out of each SPR.
  • Identify gaps and areas of potential improvement with existing LCSS Capability required to support the end user.
  • Work with the DND and the Canadian Army to elicit requirements on LCSS Capabilities
  • Provide guidance and support to the development teams for the implementation and revision of capabilities within LCSS
  • Provide support, guidance and recommendations to the stakeholder community (which includes DND, the Canadian Army and other Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs)
  • Provide guidance and support to the SoS, Mobile Domain and product level Integration and Test including review of test cases, resolution of test discrepancies and analysis of test results
  • Support and present at meetings with internal stakeholders as well as with the stakeholder community
  • Assume responsibility, ownership, and accountability for deliverables and work products and meeting program commitments and achieving program milestones

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in Engineering, Computer Science, or applicable scientific discipline is required.
  • 2+ years System Engineering or Systems Architecture experience
  • Experience and working knowledge of systems engineering tools including DOORS (Preferred DOORS Next Generation), Rational Team Concert (RTC) and UML/SysML
  • Knowledge of the System development process and lifecycles.
  • Knowledge of the Requirements definition and management.
  • Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Enthusiastic contributor, willingness to learn new skills and takes on ownership of work.
