Overview

The Bath Iron Works Information Technology team is seeking a motivated individual to manage a diverse portfolio of technology projects targeted at driving value across our Bath, Maine shipyard.

This is a year-round position with responsibilities onsite in Bath, ME.

In this role, the successful candidate will be a senior member of a team responsible for the following:

  • Collaborate with project/program sponsor, cross-functional teams, and affiliated project managers to plan and develop scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and timing for new initiatives.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
  • Track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  • Conduct project postmortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Refine best practices and tools for project execution and management. Including updating and creating documentation.
  • Leveraging experience, mentor other Project department team members.
  • Negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise project team members, contractors and other project management team; influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.


Responsibilities

Sr. Project Manager

  • 8+ years of related IT project management experience.
  • A Bachelors degree in Project Management, Computer Science, or a related technical field is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a large-scale manufacturing organization preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with project management software, such as Smartsheets.
  • PMP certification strongly preferred.

Principal Project Manager

  • 12+ years direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution.
  • A Bachelors degree in Project Management, Computer Science, or a related technical field is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a large-scale manufacturing organization preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with project management software, such as Smartsheets.
  • PMP certification strongly preferred.
  • PgMP certification an asset but not required.
  • A leader who has worked in a business-facing IT organization with demonstrated experience in partnering with business stakeholders.

  • Ability to defuse tension among project team, should it arise.
  • Ability to bring project to successful completion through political sensitivity.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products.
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
  • Customer service skills an asset.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
