Basic Qualifications

Associates degree in related discipline or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

GDMS has an immediate opening for a Optics Technician to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to support the Trident LE program, one of our nations fundamental defense systems. The selected candidate will work in the Optics Engineering team to perform technical assembly and test activities that impact the manufacturing of the Camera Detector Assembly (CDA) and Stable Member Optics Assembly (SMOA). The Optics Technician will enhance their skill set by working among a talented and technically accomplished group of colleagues. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Optics Technician performs technical activities which include Camera Detector Assembly/Stable Member Optical Assemblies (CDA/SMOA) assembly, system-level test, detail design and manufacturing of advanced Optical/Electronics systems. This position requires attention to detail, an understanding of engineering terminology and excellent interpersonal skills.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Ability to work unsupervised, as part of an established team, while performing a high level of critical assembly and test functions.
Understand the relation between test results and Camera Detector Assembly/Stable member telescope functions.

Strong understanding of CAD/blueprint drawings and ability to read/interpret.
Perform solder operations specified as in Trident requirements. (J-STD certifications preferred)

Understand logistics of system delivery tracking for system builds.
Ability to complete assigned tasks to meet production schedules.
Deliver repeatable high quality systems to meet Customers needs.
Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the GDMS culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures.
Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure GDMS services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.

What you bring to the table:

  • An Associates degree in related discipline or equivalent plus a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
  • Fundamental knowledge and proficiency in the use of related tools and equipment
  • Ability to fabricate simple hardware as required
  • May require 1st Class FCC license and Solder Repair certification
  • Clear computer and test equipment knowledge

Salary Note

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $28.52 - USD $30.59 /Hr.
