Responsibilities

Summary:

This position supports the benefits team with the implementation, administration and coordination of General Dynamics employee benefit programs. The individual will provide critical analytical and technical support in the delivery of benefit programs. The Specialist will work on varying projects with different team member leads. We are looking for an independent self-starter who is a strong multitasker and a resourceful results-oriented thinker.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist leadership with benefits administration to ensure benefit programs are administered in accordance with the plan documents and applicable regulations.
  • Research participant, record keeper and business unit questions/issues related to benefit plans and provide timely responses and resolutions.
  • Analyze data and various plan rules to determine appropriate resolution to non-routine situations. Work with management to escalate issues as required.
  • Support the strategic development of employee facing benefit communications. Assist with the creation and review of materials to be used in annual enrollment, ongoing engagement communications, etc.
  • Assist with development and coordination of various corporate office benefit initiatives (biometric screenings, flu shot, wellness events, etc.).
  • Handle various participant appeals and document requests.
  • Work on multiple, complex projects. Maintain a close working relationship with business units, internal teams, outsourced providers and third-party vendors. Projects may be annual or ad hoc in nature. Typical projects include administration simplification, annual enrollment, FSA reconciliation, total reward statements, summary plan description updates, dependent audit, etc.
  • Manage point solutions/wellbeing vendors. Provide day to day operations and support the implementation of new programs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with health vendors and provide support on vendor projects.
  • Utilize PeopleSoft and other databases to produce detailed analyses and reports around plan data, employee participation, eligibility criteria and other metrics.
  • Develop presentations for management as needed.
  • Create or review written materials and memos to be used in employee communications and regulatory mailings.
  • Continuously review existing processes with a goal towards improved efficiency and accuracy. Recommend enhancements to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications



Education and Certifications:

  • BS/BA degree in Business Administration or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the function of the job

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in a professional environment.
  • Experience in human resources or benefit administration, is preferred.

Other Requirements:

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with people at all levels.
  • Must possess excellent attention to detail, analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks while adapting to changing priorities in a faced paced deadline-oriented environment.
  • Must possess professionalism, discretion, and good judgment.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to work independently under general supervision with outsourced providers and related third-party vendors.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be willing to work at the General Dynamics' Corporate Headquarters Monday through Friday and in emergency situations as needed.
