Job Description:

  • General Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking a Material Estimator. As a Material Estimator, youll work directly with management to address all aspects of material pricing, including identifying lead times, vetting suppliers IAW FAR and DFARS, and supporting Final Management Reviews. This will entail using your strong attention to detail to prepare and provide material estimates that are current, accurate and complete. You must be able to work and succeed in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, while demonstrating strong presentation, communication, team building and leadership skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert, possessing in-depth knowledge of cost estimating processes supporting a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to understand relevant material pricing practices and principles, quality processes, counterfeit parts, and other compliance requirements such as Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS)
  • High Proficiency in or strong knowledge base in Supply Chain operations policies
  • Obtain and evaluate supplier quotes to determine material costs and availability.
  • Update cost databases and main records for future reference and audit support.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through alternate materials or suppliers
  • Ability to work and succeed in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment while demonstrating strong presentation, communication, team building and leadership skills.
  • Attends the proposal planning meeting and kick-offs and collaborates with functional areas to understand BOM requirements
  • Identifies potential sources for required materials, and services. Develops new supply sources where suppliers are no longer competitive
  • Receives, reviews, and evaluates supplier proposals to ensure they meet Prime proposal requirements
  • Performs cost or price analysis on procurements of moderate to high value, risk, and complexity
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities to drive material commonality and cost, schedule and risk reduction

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience is required plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree without work experience.
  • Ability to pivot quickly and thrive in rapidly changing, high stress environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong candidate is decisive and action oriented.
  • Proven fluency in Microsoft Applications such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work
  • Solid analytical and negotiation skills applied to increasingly complex price analysis strategies


Salary Note

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $69,025.00 - USD $74,687.00 /Yr.
