EB Groton Shipyard

Overview

Work in a small team of Docking Engineers, Docking Supervisors, and hourly technicians at the center of port operations. Will be responsible for providing support for the shipyard's waterfront operations

  • Transportation Planning: Primary task will consist of coordinating the movement and positioning of all the EB waterfront floating assets and equipment.
  • Port Operations & Logistics: Communicating with various tug, barge, and piloting companies with arrivals and departures details.
    • Work with Docking Engineers, EB planners, and purchasing agents to ensure commercial barge, Sea Shuttle, Holland, and boat movements do not conflict with supporting activities (tugs/pilot) and waterfront real-estate.
  • Security fence openings and closings to support arrival and departure of floating assets.
  • Ensuring arrival/departure checklists are completed in time to support evolutions at the multiple locations along the waterfront.
  • Paying invoices for vendor support.
  • Candidate must have:
    • Professional and clear communication skills.
    • A proven track record in the areas of safety, quality, cost, schedule, process improvement, and communications.
    • The ability to interact with all levels of management, the customer, and Human Resources and be able to ensure EEO and OSHA compliance.
  • Candidate must be:
    • Organized and have a clear way to track work requested, work completed, and invoicing.
    • Able to promote a positive team environment and be highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills.


Responsibilities

  • Interpersonal skills to work in a fast-paced environment with all levels of the work force
  • Understanding of weather, particularly evaluating marine forecast for vessel transportation
  • General marine industry knowledge; marine terminology
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and barge classification


Qualifications

Required:

  • High School School diploma or GED
  • 2-9 years of experience working in the marine industry

Preferred:

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Maritime Studies, or Business
  • Experience working in port operations or maritime logistics
  • Strong understanding of maritime regulations and safety standards
  • Excel; Microsoft Office
  • ORACLE access and proficiency
