JOB DESCRIPTION
The Joint Operational Planning and Execution System (JOPES) Planner position is in support of HQSOCOM J3 Operations at MacDill AFB.
MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As the JOPES Planner, you will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for all JOPES-related activities. The SME is responsible for tracking, reporting, and providing expert guidance on USSOCOM missions utilizing JOPES.
Core responsibilities include analyzing full-spectrum operations and integrating Time-Phased Force Deployment Data (TPFDD) into operational and strategic plans. This position is essential to the planning and execution of global special operations and requires close coordination with: Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), SOF Component Commands, Combatant Commands (COCOMs), USTRANSCOM, Other strategic partners.
Air Force JOPES duties encompass managing, tracking, and coordinating the deployment, movement, and sustainment of forces through the Global Command and Control System (GCCS). Personnel in these roles develop TPFDD, create operational plans (OPLANs), and monitor force readiness to ensure Combatant Commander requirements are met.
Includes tasks such as:
- Drafts, develops, and manages Time-Phased Force and Deployment Data as directed
- Coordinates with COCOMs, SOF Components, and TSOCs to ensure a comprehensive understanding and seamless execution of current operations.
- Maintains and updates the daily JOPES airlift mission flow, monitors the status of JOPES Requests for Information, and manages daily mission tracking as required.
- Participates in crisis action planning teams and collaborative planning sessions as required.
- Maintains worldwide visibility of strategic movement requirements and coordinates with U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) and the GCCs to facilitate global transportation.
- Develops and maintains SOF force modules to improve deployment responsiveness.
- Provides timely and accurate inputs to daily/weekly SITREPs and Requests for Information as directed
- Maintains extensive visibility of SOF deployments for operations, training, and exercises using a variety of IT systems, including JOPES ADP JET/RQT | JCRM | JTIMS | GDSS | SMS
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completion of the JOPES Action Officer Course and JOPES Support Personnel Course
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience utilizing JOPES including a comprehensive understanding of TPFDD analysis process
- Minimum 3 years' experience working with USSOCOM, subordinate organizations, DOW, and knowledge of each U.S. military service's roles and missions
- Minimum 3 years' experience with the Joint Planning Process includes developing and revising various planning documents such as PLANORDs, EXORDs, OPLANs, and CONPLANs
- Knowledge of the relationship of the various Combatant Commands, their subordinate commands, the services, and the Joint Staff as defined in the Unified Command Plan and other applicable DOD directives and guidance
- 5 years' experience using communication skills, both written and oral, to include preparation of written products for senior leaders (general officer/flag officer/senior executive service level) use as well as the ability to communicate at all levels.
- Experience with USTRANSCOM coordination processes
- Current DoD Top Secret clearance and eligible for SCI access required

The likely salary range for this position is $83,300 - $112,700. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
