We currently have an exciting opportunity located in Bremerton, Washington. We are looking for a General Manager.

I. OVERVIEW


The General Manager is responsible for planning and directing all aspects of the business operations of General Dynamics NASSCO ship repair facility located in Bremerton, Washington. Specifically responsible for oversite of multiple functions to include: Contracts, Planning/Scheduling, Estimating, Production, Safety, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Human Resources, and Supply Chain Management. Within general guidelines, the General Manager performs with considerable latitude and a high degree of autonomy, relying on previous experience and a thorough understanding of the Companys Ethos, approved operating practices, procedures and goals.



II. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure compliance with regulations while aligning operational plans with overall business goals.
  • Streamline processes to ensure that the team is structured and resourced for success and drive continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Directly interface with the customer on all concerns and opportunities for improvement.
  • Identification and development of opportunities for additional revenue streams.
  • Direct all business activities to include overall responsibility for profit and loss.
  • Direct the business base projection targets.
  • Develop performance metrics and drive initiatives to meet or exceed contracted parameters for quality, cost, and schedule.
  • Provide executive level management and oversight of the activities of professional, technical, and administrative personnel.
  • Reviews process of all business operations functions assigned to ensure adherence to NASSCOs schedule and cost objectives.
  • Expedite internal/external problem resolution to support schedule, quality, and cost objectives in all areas of business operations.
  • Interface with Company Executive Leadership and other senior level directors and managers in the formulation and execution of company goals and objectives.
  • Attract, develop and retain high performing talent and build future leaders through development, mentoring and modeling excellence.
  • Participate in professional development and corporate continuity plans.


  • III REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS


  • Requires outstanding leadership prowess, the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and ability to create and sustain a positive work environment
  • Ability to establish a vision and gain cross-functional support to implement the vision using effective change management principles.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and facilitate the information flow between external and internal constituents
  • Ability to facilitate collaboration across the organization and establish trust as a foundational principle.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting and material procurement processes.
  • Project Management methodologies and processes
  • Familiarization with NAVSEA Standard Items as well as OSHA Safety and Environmental policies
  • Knowledge of Carrier Team One and Nuclear Carrier Maintenance Policies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


  • IV. PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field. Masters degree preferred.
  • Defense Acquisition University (DAU) certification in Program Management or associated field
  • Ten (10) years experience managing repair/maintenance on US Navy surface ships with particular experience with nuclear aircraft carrier repair/maintenance.
  • Extensive knowledge of US Navy ship repair and modernization processes and procedures
  • Experience in business development and contractual methods and processes in a government environment



  • V WORKING RELATIONSHIPS


    Reports to the NASSCO Vice President of Repair for duties and assignments. Directs a team of Department Managers and Directors. Maintains internal contact with General Managers, Managers and Directors in other NASSCO locations. External contacts include customers, potential customers, government organizations, community officials and other ship repair companies



    VI. ACCOUNTABILITY


    Responsible to the NASSCO Vice President of Repair for all aspects of the operation of NASSCO-Bremerton.



    VII. OTHER REQUIREMENTS


    Secret Security Clearance as well as an independent criminal background and credit check are required for this position.



    VIII. UNIQUE/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS


    Regular, reliable onsite attendance is an essential function of the job. Must be willing to travel and have reliable transportation. Must be a U.S. citizen and qualify for a Common Access Card (CAC) and/or Non-Common Access Card (DBIDS) and a security clearance. Must have reliable record of attendance and punctuality and be available for overtime as required. Must be able to physically transit all areas of the facility. Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects or controls, and to talk and hear. Must have good eye/hand coordination. Must be familiar with working in a naval-ship-work-environment and be able to go aboard marine vessels and the drydock, climb ladders, work in tanks and confined spaces, and wear personal protective equipment. These areas can be dirty, dusty, hot or cold, and noisy.
