Description: General Dynamics Land Systems is a global leader in the design, development, production, support and sustainment of tracked and wheeled military equipment, specifically the Abrams Main Battle Tank and the Stryker Family of Wheeled Combat Vehicles.
Our company is searching for an environmental intern for the 2025 year.
- Perform routine and investigative hazardous waste, solid waste, and recycling program inspections, compliance reviews and research.
- Assist in evaluating our company's compliance with environmental laws, regulations and policies.
- Assist with identifying and supporting site environmental improvement projects.
- Prepare site safety plans, collect environmental samples, analyze results.
- Identify plausible opportunities to reduce site energy use, water reduction, and recycling.
- Provide administrative assistance and support with all aspects of hazardous waste, solid waste, and recycling program management including permitting, compliance/technical assistance and enforcement.
- Learn the requirements of the Environmental & Energy Management Systems as well compliance standards ISO 14001, ISO 50001, and ISO 45001.
- Calculate and track performance against site and regional energy/environmental KPI's (Key Performance Indicators).
- Communicate relevant KPI's to stakeholders and the site.
- Provide environmental analysis for plant Risk Assessments.
- Interact with manufacturing supervisors, safety coordinator, and union employees.
- Assist in developing site organization, resources, and people in order to have a structure to control risks and environmental emergencies.
- Other duties as needed.
Background Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled student, sophomore level or above, pursuing degree in Occupational Health, Safety Science, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 2.50 GPA in a Bachelor's degree program (transcripts must be provided)
- Must be a U.S. Person
- Must be proficient with computers and software including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Work Environment:
- This job is performed in an office and heavy manufacturing environment.
- Nature of Supervision: Medium to High (requires self-directed work)
- Work Interruptions and Distractions: Medium to High
