Position Summary

The Director Maintenance (DM) is appointed by the GM with direct access and always reporting responsibility to the GM on matters concerning engineering and maintenance. The DM plans, controls and supervises all maintenance activities, while specifically acting as the maintenance manager. He is superior to the maintenance personnel.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensuring availability of facilities appropriate to the planned work including hangars, work-shops office accommodation, stores, apron as applicable for the planned work and the up-keep of these facilities
  • Availability of equipment, tools and materials to perform the planned tasks
  • Availability of sufficient competent personnel to plan, perform, supervise, inspect and certify the work being performed
  • Availability of all necessary approved maintenance data to support the activities
  • Efficient use and storage of all material resources
  • Notifying the GM of deficiencies which require his attention in respect of finance and the acceptability of standards.
  • Implementation of the Safety policy and Human Factor program
  • Ensuring that procedures and standards contained in this MOE and manufacturers approved data are complied with when carrying out maintenance
  • Ensuring the timely reporting of un-airworthy conditions and ensuring no aircraft are re-turned to service with known deficiencies which may hazard the flight
  • Responding to quality deficiencies and non-conformities in the Maintenance Department resulting from internal and external audits and implementation, where necessary, of remedial (corrective and preventive) actions
  • Management, coordination and organizing of all maintenance activities including the overall responsibility for the appointment of dedicated project coordinators to each Work Order.
  • Supervision and completion of all activities in his department and the with regard to safety, quality and efficiency
  • Ensuring that all subcontracted work is correctly detailed and that the contractual requirements are fulfilled using inspection and quality control methods
  • Provision of the required components, parts and material
  • Ensuring the quality of all products and services, including that all required maintenance is carried out in compliance with the scope of approval
  • The safe and reliable completion of all tasks in his department and the supervision with regard to safety, quality and efficiency
  • Ensure that all subcontracted work is correctly detailed and that the contractual requirements are fulfilled using inspection and quality control methods
  • Implementation, where necessary, of remedial (corrective and preventive) actions
  • Promotion of quality consciousness


Minimum Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering
  • Professional Management qualification in the aviation field
  • Min 5 years Management experience in a part 145 organization
  • Min 15 years certifying aircraft experience
  • Total aeronautical experience to exceed 15 or more years.
