Overview
The successful candidate will support the DDG51 PY (Planning Yard) Program Lead in the following areas of responsibility:
- Provide programmatic leadership and oversight for the DDG51 PY Program and ensure high levels of safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance.
- Drive rapid resolution of emergent internal and external customer issues, including but not limited to interpretation and resolution of programmatic issues, contractual matters, or cross departmental issues.
- Supports development of and execution of the DDG51PY Operational Performance Improvement Plan (OPIP).
- Supports / undertakes growth opportunities.
- Provide direct interface with Navy and subcontractors at program leadership level.
- Work closely with the Supervisor of Ship Building Bath (SSBA).
- Lead Obligation Planning efforts prior to the start of each fiscal and contract year.
- Oversite of the Spend Plan in relation to the Obligation Plan by OBS, by CLIN, at the EQP level.
- Work closely with Program Controls to monitor/manage the following:
- Funding status by CLIN and TI
- Ceiling status by CLIN and TI,
- Rate performance to contract by CLIN, TI, overall
- Overtime hour status, actuals to ceiling, and weekly average
- Program margin performance, target margin rate, profit estimate, effective Margin Rate
- Oversite of all work plans to ensure they are compliant with the program needs.
- Direct back up to the Program Lead when unavailable.
- Direct back-up to Work Plan Managers.
- Able to strategically and professionally deliver messages and presentations to all levels within the company and Navy.
- This position requires occasional travel with durations that could last 1 week to support Program Reviews, Vendor visits, Homeport visits and other miscellaneous meetings.
Responsibilities
- Associate's degree in a technical or business discipline and/or equivalent work experience, or a BIW Apprentice graduate; however, an undergraduate degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Electrical Engineering or similar discipline is preferred.
Qualifications
- 10 years experience (preferred) in manufacturing, engineering or design.
- 8 years project management related experience.
- Demonstrated Leadership skills to foster a constructive and motivated teamwork environment.
- Must be able to effectively manage priorities and meet schedule demands.
- Broad knowledge of DDG 51 Class ships in the areas of ship design, construction, repair and alteration.
- Must be able to travel and gain access to government facilities on a frequent basis.
- Willing to commit necessary hours to complete responsibilities on schedule (including working past normal shift schedule and some weekends when necessary).
- Strong computer, oral, written, analytical and interpersonal skills, coupled with an ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team.
