MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a SQL Database Administrator, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of our CNIC N6 IT Support team which provides system administration and development/maintenance support of Commander, Navy Installation Command (CNIC).
- The SQL Database Administrator will support the CNIC Enterprise Business Solutions (EBS) modernization efforts as part of the DEOS Task Order. This role provides database engineering, modernization, migration, performance optimization, and cloud transformation support across SQL Server 2019 environments, Azure SQL, and Azure Data Factory. The Database Administrator ensures continuity of operations during modernization activities and supports the migration of legacy databases into modern cloud environments.
- The DBA will collaborate closely with cloud engineers, application teams, cybersecurity, and data architects to support CNIC's migration roadmap, modernization of database services, and transition to cloud-based data platforms.
- Administer, configure, maintain, and optimize SQL Server 2019 database environments supporting CNIC applications.
- Perform migration and modernization of SQL databases into Azure SQL and other authorized cloud platforms.
- Build, manage, and optimize Azure Data Factory pipelines, orchestrations, and data flows to support enterprise data movement and analytics.
- Evaluate existing legacy databases and recommend modernization strategies, cloud migration approaches, and performance improvements.
- Support cloud-based data warehousing and analytics integrations.
- Perform backups, restores, replication, high availability configuration, and disaster recovery planning.
- Ensure security compliance, apply updates and patches, and support database accreditation activities.
- Maintain continuity of legacy database operations throughout cloud cutover phases.
- Develop stored procedures, scripts, tuning plans, and database automation solutions.
- Provide Tier II/III troubleshooting and escalation support for database issues.
- Produce engineering documentation including procedures, architecture diagrams, migration plans, and knowledge articles.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your database administration expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. Our SQL Database Administrator must have:
- Security Clearance Level: Active Top Secret clearance.
- Required Experience:
- 8 years of experience as a SQL Database Administrator.
- Hands-on experience with:
- SQL Server 2019
- Azure SQL (SQL Online)
- Azure Data Factory
- Database migration and modernization
- Experience with database security, auditing, RBAC, patching, and compliance.
- Experience performing database performance tuning, monitoring, index optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting large-scale modernization or cloud migration efforts.
- Required Certifications: DoD 8570 IAT II compliant - Security+ CE
- Education: BS Degree or equivalent Computer Science or IT related degree

The likely salary range for this position is $129,813 - $155,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
