Overview
The successful candidate must provide technical assistance and overall direction to a team of hourly representativeemployees. Core to this position is the successful performance of the team's safety, quality, cost, schedule and continuous improvement.
Effective communication, leadership, creating a positive team environment with employees and peers is key to success for the selected candidate. This position of Operations Supervisor provides a platform to gain a working knowledge of various manufacturing environments and their relationships with other parts of Electric Boat business. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer or experienced trades-personto advance into a career-building leadership position and gain invaluable experienceto support their career development.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead the activities of approximately 15 piping trades employees in the performance of preparing, assembling and installing equipment on-boardsubmarines
- Primary point of contact to interface with engineering, ship's management, quality and other trade departments
- Lead the team to achievement of company goals for safety, quality, cost, schedule and continuous improvement
- Take ownership of team performance
Responsibilities
- Have the abilityto read and interpretblueprints, procedures, and related reference documents
- Have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with subordinates and supervisors
- Must be able to work all assignedshifts
- Must be able to work extended hours
- Must be able to go on road assignments as business needs dictate
- Applicant must obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance as a condition of employment
- Capable of reading, interpreting and putting into effect plans, procedures and instructions
- Good presentation skills and attention to detail preferred
- Proficientin MS Word, Excel and Power Point preferred
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3 + years of trade, manufacturing, and/or military experience
Preferred:
- College/technical school AS/BS degree
- 1 year pipefitting experience
- 3 years of shipyard experience
- Previous supervisory experience
- Previous related Military/Navy experience
- Nuclear qualifications
- Knowledge of 688, VIRGINIA, and COLUMBIA class submarines
- Radcon qualifications
