ST. LOUIS / January 28, 2016 – The industry's first three installations of Future Aircraft Navigation Systems (FANS) in Bombardier Challenger 604s by Jet Aviation St. Louis are complete, with three more already scheduled. The installations are possible after Jet Aviation St. Louis received FAA approval for a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC).
"These first three FANS installations in CL604s advance navigation technology and demonstrate again that Jet Aviation St. Louis is a global leader in aviation technology," said Blake Hogge, senior manager, Avionics Sales. "We can complete the fully-integrated FANS 1/A upgrade with minimal downtime and cost, all during a scheduled or unscheduled maintenance event.
"Jet Aviation St. Louis teamed with Rockwell Collins to develop the STC for the Challenger 604 FANS 1/A aftermarket solution. It includes the Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Contract (ADS-C) and Controller Pilot Data Link Communication (CPDLC), which reduces pilot workload and enhances the clarity and accuracy of pilot communications with Air Navigation Service Providers in oceanic and remote airspace worldwide.
