WHAT: At the 2015 Surface Navy Association National Symposium, General Dynamics will showcase its broad portfolio of programs and capabilities that directly support and enable the many missions of Surface Naval Forces.
WHEN: January 13-15, 2015WHERE: Booth 220, Hyatt Regency Crystal City (2799 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, Va.)The following will be displayed in General Dynamics' booth:
Afloat Forward Staging Base (AFSB):
General Dynamics NASSCO is currently building the third ship of the Mobile Landing Platform (MLP) class, configuring it as an AFSB. This ship is designed to facilitate a wide variety of future mission sets in support of special operations, and with accommodations for 250 personnel and a large helicopter flight deck, it will provide a highly capable and affordable asset to the Navy and Marine Corps.DDG 51 Arleigh Burke-class Destroyers:
General Dynamics Bath Iron Works provides lead yard services and has two DDG 51-class ships under construction at its Bath, Maine, shipyard. Company representatives will be on hand to answer questions and provide program updates. A video featuring footage of the recent evolution of the Rafael Peralta (DDG 115) keel unit will be on display.DDG 1000 Zumwalt-class Destroyers:
General Dynamics Bath Iron Works is in full production of all three of the Navy's next-generation, multi-mission naval surface combatants at its shipyard in Bath. Program representatives will be available, along with a ship model and video of construction activities, including the recent move of the 900-plus-ton deckhouse module for the Michael Monsoor (DDG 1001).Digital Modular Radio (DMR):
General Dynamics Mission Systems-built DMR's continue to improve functionality and interoperability with the Navy's current and next-generation communications capabilities. The radio is already interoperable with the Navy's Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) satellite communications system and protects sensitive Navy mission information to the Top Secret level and below. DMR radios are aboard Navy surface and subsurface vessels and fixed-site locations throughout the Navy and other U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) locations. General Dynamics Mission Systems has been delivering DMRs to the Navy since 1998 and it was the first software-defined radio to go into military service.Open Computing Infrastructure (OPEN CI):
General Dynamics Mission Systems' open architecture computing infrastructure (OPEN CI) serves as the technology backbone for the core mission systems of the Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) and Joint High Speed Vessel (JHSV). With its plug and play integration for ship systems and mission modules, OPEN CI allows for platform flexibility and quick configuration of whole mission packages in response to dynamic and evolving Navy mission requirements.TACLANE-10G (KG-175X) Encryptor:
General Dynamics Mission Systems delivers next-generation high-speed cyber-defense and agile VLAN-capable encryptors. The new TACLANE-10G expands throughput performance to 10 Gb/s and is designed to secure information classified Top Secret SCI and below and accept additional software to improve the network efficiency and sensing capabilities. Trusted to protect the nation's most sensitive information, more than 250,000 TACLANE encryptors are in place throughout the DoD and government agencies worldwide.Totem Ocean Trailer Express (TOTE):
General Dynamics NASSCO will discuss status of the liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered containerships currently under construction. The vessels will operate on either fuel oil or gas derived from LNG, which will significantly decrease emissions while increasing fuel efficiency as compared to conventionally-powered ships. The LNG-powered containerships will also include a ballast water treatment system, making them the greenest ships of their size in the world.U.S. Coast Guard Offshore Patrol Cutters (OPC):
General Dynamics Bath Iron Works is one of three shipyards working on Phase I design work for this next-generation cutter program, which will replace the Coast Guard's aging fleet of Medium Endurance Cutters. Representatives will be available to review the company's offerings for the program.
