This position requires in-depth understanding of veneer, hardwood, polymer coatings, the chemistry of polyurethane, polyester, and acrylates as well as a good understanding of the development of material and process specification.
Requirements:
1. Direct experience with formulation, coatings development and testing with polyurethane, polyester, acrylates, UV Curable and other resins systems
2. Demonstrated experience in development, qualification, and certification of polymer coatings on difference substrate such as veneer, composite, and metals
3. Experienced in creating, maintaining material technical specification, process specification, test plan and test report
4. Proficient on analytical equipment includes, but not limited to: Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS), Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA), and Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDAX) for the characterization and testing related to coatings, and able to understand and interpret the test data
5. Capable of resolving issues related to the polymer coating in a timely manner
6. Demonstrated experience working with suppliers in new coating development
7. Experience on Establish product performance criteria and test methods to guide product development. Thorough Knowledge of organic chemistry including the structure, properties, and reactions of organic compounds and organic materials
8. Proficient with performing statistically analysis of testing data from coating materials.
9. Strong communication skills in both of technical writing and reading
10. Support innovation and development activities for industrial coatings, including idea generation; technology scouting; and planning, conducting, and coordinating experiments for new product technology platforms
11. Must have the ability to understand influence of coating formulations from the laboratory to real world use
12. Able to collaborate with Operations, Quality, Interior Design, Procurement, Technical Support, and R&D personnel in providing technical assistance and actable solutions
13. Promote continuous improvement effort through all related processes
14. Support other field of activities in Materials and Process Engineering organization
15. Investigate customer complaints and problems
16. This position requires hands-on laboratory work

- Advanced degree in engineering, or related curriculum preferred.
- The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.
