Overview

BIW is hiring Desktop Publishers at the following levels:

  • 2nd Class Designer: $25.17/Hr. - $27.16/Hr.
  • 3rd Class Designer: $21.12/Hr. - $24.30/Hr.

These positions are for first shift:

The successful candidates will join the Technical Publications group of BIWs Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) organization as a Desktop Publisher. The primary focus of this group is development and submittal of the US Navy Technical Manual products required by our contracts. The Desktop Publisher will accomplish the following tasks:

  • Review the format of US Navy technical manual products to ensure adherence to contract requirements.
  • Utilize desktop publishing software to produce new and revised US Navy technical manuals.
  • Prepare and submit Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) data items.



Responsibilities

  • High School Diploma / GED required. Associates Degree preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral, are required.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Above average familiarity with Microsoft Office programs is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be detail orientated, well organized, and able to strictly adhere to product schedules.


Qualifications

This position requires you to be able to obtain a government security clearance. You must be a US Citizen for consideration and you must be able to obtain an interim security clearance within the first 45 days of hire.   • Experience working with AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop and Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) or Extensible Markup Language (XML) files or an Associates Degree in Graphic Arts & Design is required.

2nd Class Required:

  • Minimum of four (4) years experience working with AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop and Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) or Extensible Markup Language (XML) files is required.

3rd Class Required:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of practical experience working with AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) and/or Extensible Markup Language (XML) files, OR
  • Associates Degree in Graphic Arts & Design.
