Overview
Starting Hourly Rate: $20 per hour.
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS) is looking for an experienced Intern - Project Engineer I to join our Lincoln, NE organization. We are expanding rapidly and looking for motivated and creative individuals who want to help support and shape this organization as we grow.
GD-OTS provides reliable and affordable composite products to the defense and commercial aerospace markets. With more than 60 years of expertise, GD-OTS designs, develops, manufactures, and tests a full range of composite missile and space structures, including rocket motors, pressure vessels, launch tubes and fuel tanks.
Responsibilities
Working as an Intern-Project Engineering you will be working directly with member(s) of the Project Engineering Team providing support for completion of the following tasks:
- Provide innovative solutions to real world engineering problems, including; challenges with composite materials design, manufacture and tooling.
- Assisting a PE in their role as an interface to Program Office, to Senior leadership, and to Customer technical staff and Management.
- Support with problem investigations and resolution across functional areas.
- Assist in investigation of cutting edge technologies and aid in the development of plans to affect future opportunities through internal research and development and customer relationships.
- Providing support in preparation of technical proposals, and in preparation of monthly financial reports.
- Support in the defining of project needs, staffing requirements, and schedule and budget of project(s).
- Aid PE in updates to program tracking / reporting and development of plans.
- Work with PE in monitoring projects for progress and scope; aid in monitoring SOW tasks to avoid unplanned or unbudgeted work.
- Assist in preparation of status reports and presentations.
- Completion of other tasks as needed to support the Project Engineering team.
Qualifications
Completed a minimum of 2 years in an engineering discipline, working toward a BS in Engineering as a full-time student. This is a Year-Round Internship located on-site at our facility in Lincoln, NE.
