Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.

Candidates must be able to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense SECRET security clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Successful completion of a background check and drug screen is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Quality Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Designs, implements, and maintains quality assurance protocols and methods for processing materials into partially finished or finished products
Designs methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of production processes, production equipment and finished products
Performs analysis of reports and production data to identify trends and recommend updates or changes to quality standards and procedures when necessary
Reviews Documents/Drawings/Instructions for conformance to requirements
Compares defects against standards and recommends dispositions, and verifies implementation of rework
Collects, organizes and analyzes project data, generates and/or reviews metrics
Performs audits, assigns corrective action, and verifies implementation
Participates in project reviews and meetings including technical design reviews, technical peer reviews
Verifies compliance to defined requirements
Witnesses and or monitors test activities
Receives instructions from immediate supervisor
Contact with multiple work groups
Works under general supervision
Interfaces with various engineering disciplines, manufacturing, program management, and other quality personnel
Some contact with project leaders and other professionals within the Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality departments
Works as an individual technical contributor on one or multiple project
Participates as an active member of the project team
Interfaces with customer representatives
Provides resolution to problems of moderate scope
Travel may be required
Security clearance may be required

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Considerable knowledge of engineering (i.e., software, electrical, systems, etc) methodologies, tools, and standards
Considerable knowledge of ISO 9001:2008, AS9100 D, ANSI, EIA, etc.
Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Considerable written and verbal communications skills
Ability to think creatively
Ability to multi-task
Considerable skill in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
Considerable ability to clearly recognize and report relevant to sound quality engineering practices
Considerable knowledge of interpretation of drawings
Considerable skill in reviewing documents/drawings/instructions for conformance to requirements techniques
Considerable skill in reporting quality activities, findings, and issues both in writing and verbally
Considerable interpersonal skills
Considerable knowledge of use of relevant inspection/measurement tools and techniques
Considerable computer skills, both desktop software and required factory or engineering tools
