General Dynamics Awarded $57 Million for
Production, Analysis and Repair of
Combat Vehicles
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – The U.S. TACOM Lifecycle Management Command has
awarded General Dynamics Land Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics
(NYSE: GD), $57 million for Stryker production and for Abrams tank maintenance.
The Army awarded $38 million to produce 33 Stryker Medical Evacuation Vehicle
variants. The eight-wheeled Stryker provides mobile protection for up to six
patients and a medical team. Work will be performed in Anniston, Ala.; Sterling
Heights, Mich.; Lima, Ohio; and London, Ontario, Canada, and is expected to be
completed by January 2010.
The Army also awarded General Dynamics Land Systems $19 million for Abrams
Systems Technical Support. STS funds engineering studies on Abrams tanks to
identify improvements and replace obsolete parts, while keeping Abrams main
battle tanks current to their base configurations. The STS program’s objective
is to maintain Abrams tanks at high operational readiness rates. Work will be
performed in Sterling Heights, Mich., and will be completed by December 2011.
